International tax advisor
Using International Tax Expertise alongside Your Current Tax Adviser
Keep Your Current Tax Advisor.
Another adviser for your international tax questions.
Your overseas transactions are growing. You want to establish a foreign subsidiary or are considering moving abroad yourself. But you do not want to replace the tax advisor you have relied on for years.
You Do Not Need to Change Your Tax Adviser to Do So.
Yanagisawa International Tax & Accounting works with your current adviser to provide specialist international tax support.
Use Specialists for Specialist Matters.
Internal medicine and surgery require different expertise. Just as doctors have specialties, so do tax accountants.
Your current adviser knows your company's daily accounting and Japanese tax filings; an international tax specialist brings a different strength. Combining them allows you to make overseas-related decisions while preserving the relationship you trust.
Kenji Yanagisawa, Principal and Certified Tax Accountant and formerly of KPMG Tax Corporation, provides ongoing international tax advice. Contact us for a second opinion or to examine issues together with your current advisor.
The Option of Engaging Different Tax Accountants for Different Specialties.
This is more than a theoretical division of roles. In practice, medium-sized and large companies, whether listed or unlisted, engage multiple tax accountants or tax firms by specialty according to their scale and transaction complexity. I have personally seen three firms, and sometimes four or five, each handle their area of expertise.
Keep daily accounting and Japanese tax with your current adviser, international tax with our firm, and, when needed, the owner's inheritance matters with an inheritance tax specialist. Combining expertise broadens the support available while preserving existing relationships.
For Your Company and for You as Its Owner.
Company decisions and owner-manager decisions are connected. We consider both, working with your current tax advisor and, where needed, inheritance tax specialists.
This diagram shows the division of roles envisaged for this service. The actual scope is confirmed according to the existing advisory agreement and consultation needs.
Some tax accountants have greater specialist expertise in inheritance tax than we do. We introduce affiliated specialists in that field and combine our respective strengths. With your consent, we share the necessary materials and grounds for our judgments to coordinate our work.
Implementation support for overseas relocation, expansion, and M&A is quoted separately from the monthly advisory service. Any engagement with an inheritance tax specialist also requires separate confirmation of scope, contract terms, and fees.
Responsibility for preparing and filing returns, reflecting advice in filings, and final review is confirmed for each assignment. Our international tax advisory fees are additional to your current tax adviser's fees.
