About Yanagisawa International Tax & Accounting Office

I first met Yanagisawa through a mutual attorney acquaintance, probably about two years ago at an izakaya in Shibuya. Japan's national football team was playing that day, and he insisted on watching, so it was a place showing the match! [Laughs]

Before we met personally, Yanagisawa had apparently consulted our firm on an SPC structure using a general incorporated association and a limited liability company. Since then, we have considered triangular mergers together, received referrals for Japanese branch registrations of foreign companies, capital increases and stock option registrations for startups, and worked on real estate transfers. On M&A engagements, we have also formed joint due diligence teams, with our firm handling legal due diligence and Yanagisawa's office handling financial due diligence. Given his international tax work, many matters involve overseas elements. His previous experience in KPMG's TAG restructuring team also means that domestic referrals often involve unusual or specialized transactions.
